Mauricio Torrescano has been an artist who is evolving the way of making art , fusing two very different disciplines such as painting and sculpture in a single technique with a single material ... PLASTILIN !

Without the addition of any other pigment, paint or materials, he is able to create works bidimensional or embossed (3D) and textures not possible in other painting techniques.

For centuries there has been techniques with us such as oil , charcoal, pencil , ink , watercolor , among others. What we see everyday now is different painting and sculpting styles with known materials and some ephemera or short-lived.

In the case of the Plastilin it has been considered as a disposable material , as a toy for kids and school projects and in a professional manner as a base for sculpting but did not constitute part of the artwork definitively, but this perception is changing , the plastilin being composed of bee’s wax and paraffin achieved unique features among which is that the colors do not change over time , do not crack , does not harden and restoration is not required as it is also waterproof and is not an environment in which bacteria or mold are to develop, the melting point is 150 degrees Farenheit and  damage will occur only with prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures , like oil, watercolor or any other painting technique that is not treated as a work of art , the  final artwork is set with clear lacquer that protects it from dust.
